I see a lot of 5 star ratings here but for me it's a 4 max. I only say this because there was just not enough depth to the characters. Far too much work was put into real-world descriptions and not enough focus on the characters themselves. For instance, Max would turn around and see something that would remind him of something back in the RW, where then we'd have to sit through 6 pages of this particular reflected memory. Ross just kept doing this over and over! I found myself just glossing through these sections and being no worse for ware once the story took back up.

Lastly, I"m kinda hoping Max's "Inner Greedy Pig" dies, because I'm sick to death of hearing about him!!!

Loved the book, just needed more depth to the main characters.

The Duty Play to Live A LitRPG Series Book 3 edition by D Rus Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews

The series as a whole is good, some issues with translation from Russian to English. Some books have better translations that others.
As a gamer i really avoided this type of book. Reading about other people grinding quest struck me as...odd.
I am really glad that i picked up the books, not only were they much more fun than i thought they would be, they turned me onto the entire genre.
The first book I picked up on the unlimited program. Finding the rest of the books were not on that program was a bit of a letdown.
I can fully understand the author asking for crowd funding to help pay for the translations, but because of this, the price point of the books feels a little heavy handed.
I started this series really on a whim, figured since I like RPGs that reading a book about them may be fun especially since shows like Sword Art Online and Log Horizon are so interesting.

This series hooked me, it didn't let me down, and I'm really excited for Dmitri and his translator to finish the next books in the series. The story is engaging, and believable, and tragic, and fun, and invokes an entire array of feelings and really gets you interested and invested in the main character and his journey into being a Perma and beyond.

Can't wait for book 4!
i gave it a 3 because i liked the previous 2 books. the current novel reads like the author was bring paid by the word & really wanted to wring out the last penny.

there are many good ideas & directions put forward, but like so many LitRPGs, it gets almost unreadably bogged down in petty details, etc. This may be the last of the series i shell out cash for.
The alterworld continues from its last cliffhanger. I was not disappointed in how the cliffhanger came out. It gave our hero same more
goodie stats. However, he has some real nasty soul slavery issues hanging over his virtual life. Read the book and see what he has to do to get out of the last cliffhanger. The rest of the book continues the build up towards the light and "dark" war. Will the new character's clan survive? Also, the real world governments continue their quest to exploit alterworld... however, what happens if alterworld turns the tables? This book is definitely not a stand alone. You will need to read the first two books to understand what is happening in this book. Saying that, its well worth the price. Especially since the author has invested in translation so we can read his great series without having to learn Russian. May you enjoy the virtual world that became not so virtual a world to D. Rus' fans.
"Edit to say ...I just read the cost of translation for the books, so i am happy to pay. Thanks for the great story."
...I really like this series and would like to read all of it, but i think this will be my last book. $7.00 for less then 300 pges for a book that unlike paper you don't necessarily own. I really like the amount of books you can find on kindle, it's so much better than waiting for the same few fav authors to release books.. before kindle...but the prices for the virtual books seem high and the stories shorter to max out the amount of books you can sell.
I am really beginning to love this author. This is the third book in this series and it continues to satisfy that readers craving I have for identifying with characters. I want to know my books and Rus has such a way with that. The book picks right up after book two, and proceeds on a large raid. Max continues to grow in ways that even he doesn't get at the time. His clan grows, but not in some "it just so happened way..." but in ways even Max doesn't quite understand yet.
These books have been very hard to put down, and have had the ability to transport me which is a gift now a days.
I recommend reading this book, however, I recommend starting at the first book, you'll want to read all 3 so far. I can't wait for book 4!
One of the things I worry about with these types of books is how the main character can become overpowered too quickly. This is not a problem with this book. This is an awesome book (I think the word awesome is being used just too much in this review and others, but it is earned.)

My only regret is that the book was too short and that book 4 has not yet been released. Right now I'm feel like I'm going through withdrawal because I can't get my fix of the author's wonderful story.
